Lawrence J. Gebhardt is a partner with Gebhardt & Smith LLP, the firm he co-founded with James Smith in 1975. An experienced litigator and trial and appellate attorney, Larry prosecutes and defends all aspects of commercial and business disputes and other civil actions. Before entering private practice, Larry served a judicial clerkship with the Honorable C. Stanley Blair of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.
Larry’s practice focuses primarily on commercial and business litigation in trial and appellate courts in Maryland and the District of Columbia and other jurisdictions ranging from Puerto Rico to Vermont to Arizona and Illinois. He has appeared in state and federal courts across the country, as lead counsel in both jury and bench trials. An avid devotee of continuing legal education, Larry’s litigation strategies and arguments are marked by both sophistication trenchant analysis, rooted in sound and current legal authority. The majority of Larry’s practice currently is devoted to complex and high-stake commercial litigation matters.
Larry earned his J.D. at George Washington University Law School, where he graduated in the top 10 of his class. Larry holds a B.A. cum laude from Lehigh University where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and the nationally ranked wrestling team.
